Stores are already stocking up their Christmas décor, but I am looking forward to celebrate the best Autumn holiday... Thanksgiving! This holiday is the perfect time to transform your space into the perfect hosting spot for you and those you hold dear. Here are some tips to host Thanksgiving in style!
Embrace the fall colors
You all know how schools decorate their classrooms this time of year, with yellow, brown, orange, and primary red… But let’s go a little bit deeper and go for more softer, more traditional colors for Autumn…Cream colors, Forest green, Moss, Auburn, Brass, some Dark Byzantium and maybe a small amount of Dark Tangerine.
Setting the table
As much as we love big, beautiful centerpieces, this is not the time. The best ‘centerpiece’ at this time would be that big, beautifully cooked Turkey! When I did put nice centerpieces, I always found myself moving it to make way for all of the delicious food. Make sure to leave space for your guests, place settings, and dishes to come. We’re going to leave our larger design elements for our entry and mantle.
It's the small things
Guests are all away from their home on this holiday, even if you see your family every other week, think about how you can make your space extra welcoming and hospitable as possible. Soft candlelight (maybe fake candles if you have children and aren’t too keen on the idea of having both an open flame and a toddler around!), a great soundtrack, soft textures and yummy fall scented candles go a long way in creating a warm and cozy ambiance. Stock up on to-go containers, that you may not mind never seeing again, for left-overs!
